Apple Tree Preschool and Mother's Day Out are a ministry of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a non-profit organization. The school has a non-discriminatory policy for admission. At Apple Tree, it is our belief that every child possesses within himself the power to create the person he or she will become.

Our teachers strive to stimulate and maintain the child's natural enthusiasm for learning without disrupting a child's effort to teach himself. We feel a preschooler learns best through the senses. Our school's environment is self-paced, allowing children to have a sense of order and freedom to learn.

Our registration is held in January and February is open to current students, church members, alumni, and general public, respectively.  Space permitting, registration may be accepted through the year.

We strongly encourage all parents and prospective students to visit the school while class is in session.  This observation will allow your child an easier transition into our school.

Mother's Day Out - At Mother's Day Out, we strive to provide a safe, loving environment for your child. Your child can enjoy his/her "play day" while offering you time away from the routines of parenthood. It is our hope that, as parents, you can relax and enjoy the day off knowing your child is happy and well cared for.

Children are placed into classes according to birthday and/or development needs. Some of the activities during the day include singing, doing craft projects, playing outside and having a "quiet" rest time after lunch.

Currently, Apple Tree offers a toddler class of eight children, and a two year old class, of 12 children, on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Toddlers must be 15 months on or prior to September 30th and Two-Year-Olds must be two on or prior to September 30th with no exceptions.  All children must attend both days.

Young 3's - Our young 3's Old program is geared toward children who are 3 on or before December 31st.  There is a maximum of twelve (12) students in class, with each class having a teacher and full time assistant. This class concentrates on socialization activities, fine motor and gross motor development, and language development.

These classes are recommended for children who are potty trained but are not old enough for the three year old program or who are not quite ready for a totally structured program because of attention span or socialization concerns.

Three Year Old Classes - Our Three Year Old program is open to children who are three on or before September 30. These classes are recommended for three year old children who are able to stay focused on a task. There is a maximum of fourteen (14) children in each of our three year old classes, with each class having a teacher and full time assistant.  The three year old curriculum includes the following concepts: colors, shapes, numbers 0-10, and alphabet, beginning scissors skills and gluing skills. The children are offered a variety of activities and materials to reinforce these beginning concepts.

Four Year Old Classes -Apple Tree's Four Year Old program is open to children who will be four on or before September 30. There is a maximum of sixteen (16) children in each of our four year old classes with a teacher and full time assistant. The four year old class is more structured than the 3 year old class but the same concepts are reviewed and expanded upon.   The curriculum includes numbers up to 20 and a beginning phonics program is used.  Additional units include self awareness, animal classification, families, community helpers, safety, weather, transportation, health and others.

Pre-K Classes - Apple Tree's Pre-Kindergarten program is open to children who are four on or before September 30. Each of the Pre-Kindergarten classes meets five days a week with a maximum of sixteen (16) children in each class. The Pre-K program covers the same materials as the four year old program, with additional time for review. The Pre-K program also includes sight words, number words, color words and a reading readiness program.

Special Events - Apple Tree has several special events planned each year.  Some of those events may include a visit from the following:  Louisiana Nature Center, The Zoo Mobile, Stennis Space Center, and Pottery Your Way.

Extended Care - Apple Tree Preschool offers half-day students an extended day until 2:45 p.m.  Extended care afternoons consist of lunch, quiet time, indoor and/or outdoor play, games, and movies.  Children bring their own lunch and we furnish milk.

Early Care - Early Care is offered from 7:00 am to 9:00 am daily.

Late Care - Late Care if offered from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily.
