What style of worship do you
offer? Like most United Methodist churches, Aldersgate
offers traditional worship. Our traditional services are at 8:15 and
11:00 a. m. At 9:30 we offer a more modern service with a high
energy praise band and a light hearted atmosphere. All of our
services are a great place to experience the warmth and love of
God’s grace.
Where is
the nursery? Child Care is
provided in for infants—toddlers (2 years old). Our nursery is
located in Cokesbury
201-202.
Is there Children’s
Church? Yes. Children’s Church is a full hour worship time
for children ages 3–K, and it meets each Sunday during 11:00 a.m.
worship. It meets in Susanna
Wesley 601.
Are there ways for my children to
participate in worship? Yes.
We provide a children’s bulletin with activities and crayons to
draw. These are located in the Information Center at the back of the
Sanctuary.
At the close of worship, please return the bag and crayons to their
original place so they might be available for children in other
worship services.
Where are the handicapped accessible
entrances? Three entrances to
the Sanctuary are ramped—the front door and both side doors leading into the main
room of the Sanctuary.
Where are the restrooms?
Go to the back of the Sanctuary
via the center aisle and turn left. Walk outside the glass door
under the covered walkway, and turn right into the New Room. Two
unisex restrooms with a baby-changing table are available on the
left.
Can I participate in
communion? Yes. Communion is
served the first Sunday of every month. The United Methodist Church
has an open communion table. Whatever your denominational or faith
background, all persons who confess faith in Jesus Christ and
children of Christian parents are welcome to participate in this act
of worship. We serve by intention. At the direction of the ushers,
please come forward. A piece of bread will be placed in your hands.
Take the bread and dip into the cup, and then place it in your
mouth. You may kneel at the communion altar rail for prayer if you
would like to..
What about baptism? We believe baptism is a gift from God. We believe
it is God’s action of grace whereby persons are cleansed from sin
and incorporated into the body of Christ. Since baptism is God’s
action of grace, all persons professing faith in Jesus Christ and
infants of Christian parents are candidates for baptism. Since
baptism is God’s action of grace, we recognize all Christian
baptisms in other denominations, and we do not re-baptize. If you or
your child would like to be baptized in a worship service,
please contact Dave Fortuna or Josh Milliron at
641-5829.
How do I become a
member? A faithful member of
Aldersgate is a person who responds to God’s grace with their
prayers, presence, gifts and service. To become a member fill out a
the Today Card located in the back of the chairs and come forward
at the end of the worship service to speak to the pastor.
